Love this! I was always that kid growing up that had so many notebooks that I didn’t know how to fill because I didn’t want to ruin them. So would do like one or two pages which was such a waste. Very recently I’ve started doing messy biro doodles while I’m out and about and it’s been really liberating to embrace the imperfection of it all!
thank you!! yes i also did that with notebooks and love how you phrase it “embrace the imperfection of it all”!!!!!!! exactly how we should all approach journalling!!
I LOVE THIS POST. i also love reading about notebooks in general so this was perfect in every way!!! i must also now watch the bear because so many different types of journals in a single show?? we must be in heaven. i'm terrible at keeping track of more than one journal at a time so my singular diary serves as everything under the sun - morning pages notebook, drawing pad, to do list, quotes collection, to read list. this obviously makes things hard to find but i'm thinking of using colored tabs to mark the pages so we shall see how it goes!! anyway i loved this glimpse into your system and would LOVE photos of your junk journal PLS!!!
thank you!!!! coloured tabs is a great idea!!! i see people who make like a contents page in their commonplace notebooks to help them keep track of where they write certain stuff which also sounds helpful!! i’ll have to find my old one to post some pics of and make some new pages to share too!!
i think taking away the idea that it has to be ‘perfect’ helps because then you’re more likely to use it, plus taking it absolutely everywhere and making it a habit to write in it once a day too!!
Oh Ellen, you’re gonna get me pulling out my notebooks again😭
do it do it!!!!!!!

I can’t believe a life without my notebooks. Like, where do all the messy thoughts go if you have nothing to accommodate them?…
very true!!!!!!
I love this so much! I have to admit that I do buy too many notebooks and I feel unable to use them because they are just too pretty...
